Outlet malls in the Boston area are increasingly popular with shoppers. As a matter of fact, the Wrentham Premium Outlets Mall attracts over 13 million visitors a year from all over the world. What drives visitors to outlet malls is the ability to shop at many different outlet stores in close proximity.

Many outlet malls offer features like nearby restaurants, entertainment, and play areas for children. So an afternoon at the outlet mall can become just like a family outing at the mall, with something for everybody.

When it comes to the stores in an outlet mall, you will be able to find two different styles. Factory stores are owned and operated by a brand, for example, the Nike factory outlet at Assembly Row in Somerville. Other outlets are often owned by retailers, and they may represent one or more different brands.

In the past, outlet stores have been selling merchandise that is slightly blemished or has a slight defect. This is less the case today, as many outlets sell perfectly new products, but they may be overstocked or last year's models. Even better, some outlets sell products that are the same as those sold by regular retailers, just at discounted prices.
